Sam's Words of Wisdom:  A candle loses none of its light, when it lights another candle.

FOR STARTERS:  The male choir sang. Anna pledged and Paul L prayed. Guests were Steven Pinero and Doug Jenkins.

BIRTHDAYS: Ann Ullman (7/31), Scott (8/2)

DRINK DISPENSER:  caught Cary, Bob M, Cris’s guest, Vera, and Joe C. Fink: Greg W late spun the wheel.

Food: Dave is on vacation for 2 weeks. Rick H catered this week and Dano is next week.. (Notice Dano’s long pants)

·         8/1 BOARD MEETING - 6:30 at Kiwanis Hall - Caterers are Paul & Yvonne, Colleen and Les

·         8/15-18 CALNEVHA CONVENTION in Ontario. Deadline is 7/26 for $80 discounted cost.

·         8/23 South Bay Classic Golf Tournament - Benefits local schools - Sign up to volunteer - A fun event!!

·         9/21  HB KIWANIS INSTALLATION

·         9/21  American Heart Walk - Our Key Club is trying to raise $1000 - Terry Bose has pledge sheets.

·         9/22  DIVISION 19 INSTALLATION - Brunch

·         9/22 City Picnic - Clark Field - 12 noon-4pm - Jean Lombardo is in charge and looking for volunteers to help.

CORRESPONDENCE:  Redondo drill team thanks. (Kasner). Sam card from Italy. Showed a picture of him wearing a fig leaf.

BADGES: Were given to Vera and Dan.

SPEAKER: Harold Williams Director of Public Works for Hermosa Beach. Discussed Capital Improvement Plan including funding and approval process. 22 people work directly for the city but also use consultants. Street repair plan available on the city web site. Other factoids. 43 miles of streets, 20 Miles of sidewalks, 15 miles of alleys, 1.25 miles of beach front, 1200 foot pier and 20 signaled intersections. Q and A focused on individual street repair.

RAFFLE:  Sam had the winning ticket but drew the Ace of Clubs. Today it was $98 for the day or $936 for the joker.  Only 3 cards left!!
