FOR STARTERS:  The mens choir sang. Kaitlin Lombardo led the pledge and Dr. Paul Lawson gave the invocation.

BIRTHDAYS: none this week.

DRINK DISPENSER:  Whit nabbed Judy Garland and took a shot at some guests.  No one fessed up to being the fink.

Guests:  Doug Jenkins (guest of Christine & Sam) will be the manager of the new Union Bank at the corner of Pier and PCH; Cathy Shubach (Mike); Kari Hawkins (friend of Scott); Gigi McMillan (guest of Tony); Kaitlin Lombardo (guest of Dianne)

SAD, SAD, SAD..... Mike & Cathy Schubach are retiring and moving to Palm Springs on 9/2.

LABOR DAY HOT DOGS: Be sure to sign up to work the hot dog booth - 3 shifts/3 days. We raise some money and have fun in the process. If you are able-bodied and in town, at least one shift is a must!!

 

HEART WALK:  Key Club has pledged to raise $1000.  Terry has sign-up sheet if you can help.  Dianne has sign-up sheet if you can walk the distance.  This is a club and division project and all are encouraged to participate.

SPEAKER: Joni Ackerman, an attorney who has been in practice 20 years, is a certified specialist in estate planning, trusts & probate, and recently opened an office at 200 Pier Ave (part of Greg R's office) discussed changes in federal estate taxes, generation skipping taxes, costs of probate, benefits of living trusts, charitable trusts and deductions, tax pitfalls of IRA's if not properly planned, irrevocable life insurance trusts, benefits of holding property as community property rather than joint tenants.  Make sure you see an experienced estate planning attorney and don't be taken in by cheap trust mills.

HAPPY/SADS. Mike & Cathy Schubach H/S re retiring 9/2 and moving to Palm Springs.  They've already sold their house. Linda H re daughter's wedding Saturday but S re feuding wedding party.  Judi McE sad re Ann Ullman's 91 year old mother's injuries and too quick discharge from hospital.  Terry happy re article in Kiwanis Int'l magazine re our scholarship largesse.  Greg happy Joni here (speaker) and elated re passing City of MB inspections.  Carol H re mother-in-law getting married.  Sam happy re all our guests and thanks to Kaitlin for leading the pledge.

RAFFLE:  Tony collected his $945 from the raffle last week.  Dr. Barr had the winning ticket today and took the $34.  (Just one week too late?)  FINK next week is 297.

DONATION TO "WE CAN".  Gigi McMillan accepted $750 donation from our club.  We Can is an organization which provides support, counseling and other assistance to families with children who have brain tumors.
